There are few causes I hold important. Of those few, the efforts that go towards helping out dogs are pretty high up there. Therefore when a local rescue reached out to me regarding a holiday “photos with Santa” kind of event, it was an immediate yes. After a lot of planning and test shoots I brought a car load of equipment to the event for a weekend of not-overdone Christmas-themed photos for families who were supporting the rescue — the Pacific Northwest Bulldog Rescue.
This was a significant donation of time and effort on my part, but it would have been a paltry offering if the families weren’t there. We collected a $25 sitting fee per group, all of which went to PNWBR. The weekend turned out well. Not only did dozens of families come for photos, but the rescue found families for the dogs they had brought for adoption. Awesome stuff.
Below is a selection of photos from the weekend. A big shout-out is deserved by Hip Hound, the pet supply store who hosted the event.
I’m Jonathan Sims. I am a photographer operating out of the Portland, OR area. My wife, Kayla, our pup Aster and I have a fairly large range in terms of how far we will go for adventure (and to meet you and your pups).
Ready Aim Fur is a project I started as a combination of three passions: photography, going on adventures, and hanging out with dogs. I’ve been told that I’m quite talented with the latter. The aim of this is to engage you and your beloved furry ones in a rewarding experience, whether it be a breath-taking hike or a day at the local park, and for me to document the adventure. You walk away with immortalized memories and perhaps a deepened bond with your dogs. Are you ready? Contact me via the contact page or you can always interact with me on the Ready Aim Fur Instagram.
